Wheel circumference on a Shimano STEPS system with an EW-EN100 junction

Shimano STEPS EW-EN100 junction (no display) + E-TUBE Project app

Wheel size is a drive-unit setting and is read-only in the consumer app. Only a dealer in E-TUBE Project dealer mode can change it.

Step by step

  1. Compare app speed with a GPS app over a flat kilometre; more than 5 % off suggests a wrong circumference.
  2. Measure the real circumference under load in mm.
  3. Ask a STEPS dealer to enter the value under the drive unit in E-TUBE Project.
  4. Re-check against GPS.
Tip: After a change to a different tyre size, always have the dealer update the value; otherwise the assist cut-off and odometer drift.

Can't find it?

Field locked at the dealer: the bike brand locked it; contact that brand's service.

Frequently asked

Why can't I edit it in E-TUBE Project on my phone?

Consumer mode shows circumference read-only. It is a type-approval parameter.

Is the speed sensor at fault if the speed is wrong?

Rarely. A wrong circumference or a misaligned magnet is far more common.

Can I temporarily fix it in E-TUBE Ride?

No, Ride shows what the drive unit calculates.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
