How assist works on a Cowboy (Adaptive Power) and what you can change
A Cowboy has no assist levels. Cowboy 3 gives a fixed assist curve; Cowboy 4, 4 ST and Cruiser use 'Adaptive Power', which adds motor power based on slope, wind and your effort. You can turn Adaptive Power on or off, nothing more.
Step by step
- Open the Cowboy app and connect to the bike.
- Go to Settings > 'Bike' > 'Adaptive Power' (Cowboy 4 / Cruiser only).
- Toggle it on for automatic power on hills and headwind, off for a fixed, lower assist that stretches range.
- There is no eco / turbo selector and no throttle; pedal harder and the motor follows.
- Range estimate on the home screen updates after a few hundred metres of riding with the new setting.
- Cowboy 3 owners: nothing to set; assist is fixed at the factory curve.
Tip: If assist feels weak, check tyre pressure (Cowboy runs 3.5 to 4 bar) and that the battery is clicked in fully; a loose battery cuts power intermittently.
Can't find it?
No 'Adaptive Power' toggle means you have a Cowboy 3 or older, or the app is not connected to the bike.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
