Brose error 10: Battery voltage too low
The Brose Drive battery management has measured a pack voltage below the minimum working threshold, usually because the state of charge has dropped too far. As a result motor assist is cut off, walk assist is unavailable, and the bike behaves like an unpowered bicycle until the pack is charged. Speed and cadence can still display on the screen but no propulsion will engage.

| Severity | Fix at home |
| Keep riding? | Do not keep riding |
| Typical cost | Expect roughly €80-€150 for a replacement charger, €400-€900 for a new Brose-compatible battery pack depending on capacity, and €20-€40 for a dealer diagnostic if the pack tests healthy. |
Likely causes
- Battery deeply discharged from being left unused or stored flat over winter.
- Battery pack aged or worn out, individual cells sagging under load and dropping below cutoff voltage.
- Operation in cold weather where usable pack voltage falls under the cutoff threshold.
- Dirty, corroded or loose battery contacts giving a false low-voltage reading to the BMS.
- Charger fault or interrupted charge cycle leaving the pack undercharged.
- BMS in protection mode after a deep discharge, refusing to deliver current until reset.
- Battery pack at end of service life with reduced capacity.
How to fix Brose error 10
- 1. Switch off the system and remove the battery from the frame.
- 2. Inspect the battery contacts and the frame contacts for dirt, oxidation or moisture, and wipe them clean with a dry cloth.
- 3. Connect the original Brose charger to a known-good mains socket and charge the battery until the charger LED indicates full.
- 4. Leave the battery on the charger for at least 2 hours after the LED shows full to allow cell balancing.
- 5. Refit the battery, switch the bike on and check whether error 10 has disappeared.
- 7. If error 10 returns immediately or the battery will not accept a full charge, take the battery and charger to a Brose dealer for a pack capacity test or replacement.
Warranty: A battery that fails from a genuine internal cell or BMS defect within the statutory two-year warranty period is normally replaced at no cost, while deep discharge from long storage, water ingress and crash damage are treated as owner misuse and not covered.
Typical cost: Expect roughly €80-€150 for a replacement charger, €400-€900 for a new Brose-compatible battery pack depending on capacity, and €20-€40 for a dealer diagnostic if the pack tests healthy.
Frequently asked
Can I reset brose error 10?
There is no manual reset button for error 10. The code clears on its own once the battery voltage rises back above the cutoff threshold, so a full charge on the original charger is the normal way to clear it.
Is it safe to keep riding with error 10?
No. Motor assist is disabled, so the bike will only roll under your own effort, which can be unsafe on hills, in traffic or when you were counting on power. Charge the battery before riding again.
How much will the repair cost and is it under warranty?
A new battery pack typically runs €400-€900 fitted, while a replacement charger is around €80-€150. A genuine pack or BMS failure inside the two-year warranty window is normally replaced free of charge.
