How to update Ride 50 / Ride 60 firmware via the Fazua app and what to do if it fails
Firmware for the motor, battery and Ring Control is updated from the Fazua app. A failed update usually recovers with a retry; a drive that stays dark needs a dealer.
Step by step
- Charge the battery to at least 50%.
- Connect the app to the drive. If an update is available, the bike screen shows 'Update available'; otherwise Settings > 'Firmware'.
- Tap 'Update'. Keep the phone within a metre and the app in the foreground; do not lock the phone.
- The drive reboots; the Ring Control or Remote LEDs cycle. Ride 60 updates take up to 20 minutes because several components update in sequence.
- When 'Up to date' shows, check the ride modes and units.
- If the update fails: switch the bike off and on, reconnect, and tap 'Retry'. The drive keeps the previous firmware until the new one is complete.
Tip: Ride 60 updates from mid-2023 changed the Ring Control colours (Breeze white, River green, Rocket red); do not assume a fault after the update.
Can't find it?
No 'Firmware' entry: the app is out of date, or the bike was added as 'shared' rather than as owner.
Frequently asked
The drive is dead after an update.
Remove and refit the battery (Ride 50: pull the drivepack; Ride 60: switch off, wait, switch on). If it stays dark, a dealer must flash it with Fazua Toolbox / the service tool; it cannot be fixed from the app.
Do updates change the assist?
Yes, sometimes noticeably; Fazua tunes the modes. Reset your custom modes afterwards.
Can my dealer update it?
Yes, faster and with a wired connection.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
