King-Meter error 22: Throttle signal out of range
The display has flagged the throttle signal as invalid, either because the lever is not sitting in its rest position when you let go, or because the voltage the controller is reading from the throttle is outside the expected band. While the code is active the controller normally cuts pedal assist and walk mode, so the bike still rolls under leg power but the motor will not engage and the speed reading may stay at zero. The warning clears automatically once the controller sees a valid rest signal again.

| Typical cost | Throttle replacement typically runs EUR 15-40 for the part plus EUR 30-60 for fitting, a connector clean or re-pin is around EUR 10-25, and dealer-side controller diagnosis usually costs EUR 40-80 before any repair quote. |
Likely causes
- Throttle lever sticky or not springing fully back to rest
- Loose, dirty or corroded throttle connector at the controller
- Damaged or chafed throttle cable between handlebar and controller
- Moisture inside the throttle connector or grip area
- Worn throttle potentiometer / Hall element inside the throttle body
How to fix King-Meter error 22
- Power the bike off, grip the throttle and release it several times to confirm the lever snaps back cleanly with a positive click.
- With the battery removed, trace the throttle cable from the handlebar to the controller and locate the matching connector (usually a 3-pin plug labelled TH or HALL).
- Unplug the throttle connector, inspect the pins for bending, green corrosion or pushed-back seals, then reseat it firmly until the catch clicks.
- Spray the contacts with electrical contact cleaner if there is any sign of dirt or moisture, and let it dry fully before reconnecting.
- Power the system back on without riding and watch the display; if code 22 is gone, test at walking pace before normal use.
- If the lever feels slack, gritty or does not return, replace the throttle as a unit rather than rebuilding it.
- If the code returns with a known-good throttle and clean connector, the fault is on the controller input stage and a dealer must diagnose it.
Warranty: A genuine throttle or wiring defect inside the typical two-year warranty period is normally covered as a manufacturing fault, while crash impact, water ingress and worn grips are usually excluded.

Frequently asked
Can I reset king-meter error 22?
The code clears on its own once the controller sees a valid throttle rest signal again. After checking the lever and the connector, switching the bike off, waiting a few seconds and powering back up will let the display relearn the throttle and drop the warning. If the throttle is actually faulty the code will reappear as soon as you twist the lever.
Is it safe to keep riding with error 22?
Caution: motor assist and walk mode are usually switched off while the code is active, so the bike pedals like a heavy unpowered bicycle. Short flat stretches at low speed are workable for getting home, but avoid hills, junctions and wet roads until the throttle is sorted because you will have no powered backup.
How much does fixing error 22 cost and is it covered by warranty?
A straightforward throttle swap usually lands between EUR 50 and 100 including labour, while a deeper controller-side repair can push EUR 100 to 200. A genuine component failure inside the standard two-year warranty is typically honoured, but water damage, crash damage and worn grips are almost always treated as owner cost.
