Bosch error 0x532001: CAN communication fault between drive unit and battery
The drive unit has lost the CAN bus link to the battery pack and stops the assistance functions completely. Pedalling produces no motor support, walk assist is unavailable and the throttle, if fitted, is dead. The bicycle can still be pedalled home unpowered, but behaves like a heavy unassisted bike.

How to fix Bosch error 0x532001
- Switch the system off and remove the display if it unclips.
- Take the battery out and inspect both sets of contacts for dirt, green corrosion or bent pins.
- Wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol; leave to dry fully.
- Refit the battery, confirm it clicks home, switch the system on and check whether the code clears.
- Look along the visible cable run between battery and motor for pinched, cut or chafed sections.
- If a non-Bosch battery is fitted, swap it for a genuine Bosch pack and retest.
- Take the bike to an authorised Bosch dealer for a DiagnosticTool read-out and component-level repair if the code returns.

Frequently asked
Can I reset Bosch error 0x532001?
Yes, by switching the system off, removing and refitting the battery, then powering the bike back on. If the code reappears immediately the CAN fault is still present and the bike needs dealer diagnostics.
Is it safe to keep riding with error 0x532001?
No, because motor support is cut off entirely and walk assist no longer works. Ride only the shortest distance on unassisted pedalling to get home or to a workshop.
Will Bosch cover this under warranty and what does it cost?
A genuine component failure within the two-year warranty is normally replaced free of charge, but expect €40–€120 for a harness or up to €900 for a battery or drive unit if the bike is out of warranty.
